The 2025 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup is tough, rugged, and dependable. It’s equally able to best the great outdoors, haul heavy cargo loads, or take you and your family on a road trip. We’re going to dive in and check out some of its most impressive features.
Impressive Features of the 2025 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup
Engines and Batteries
The EV 2x trim has dual electric motors, with one connected to the front axle and the other to the rear axle. They are powered by a GMC Ultium 20-cell lithium-ion battery, which is liquid-cooled and double-stacked. These motors generate 570 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque, and you can travel up to 318 miles on a fully charged battery. The EV 2x achieves 59 MPGe in the city and 47 MPGe on the highway.
The EV 3x trim has a tri-motor assembly, with two electric motors connected to the rear axle and the third to the front axle. It’s also powered by a GMC Ultium battery, but uses an extended 24-cell pack. These motors provide 1,000 hp and an awe-inspiring 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Travel range is a very healthy 367 miles with a full battery, and the EPA rates it at 58 MPGe in the city and 46 MPGe on the highway.
Five Drive Modes
The HUMMER offers you five drive modes, selectable using the MODE rotational dial on your center console. Normal mode is designed for regular driving conditions, offering a relaxed and comfortable driving experience. Tow/Haul mode is used when towing and adjusts power to the wheels for increased balance and traction while decreasing yaw movement at high speed and enhancing maneuverability at lower speeds.
Off-Road mode improves traction on gravel, sand, and similar surfaces by controlling acceleration and supplying maximum controlled torque to ensure the wheels grip the surface securely. Terrain mode is useful at low speeds on rough terrain, allowing for adjustable traction on the fly and providing automatic braking when necessary. My Mode is fully customizable to your needs. When you select it, you can vary your acceleration, braking, steering, and even engine sound.
CrabWalk
No review of the HUMMER’s capabilities is complete without looking at its signature CrabWalk. This unique steering mode is accessed by bringing your HUMMER to a complete stop and centering the wheel. Once in position, push and hold the 4-Wheel Steer button for 4 seconds, and an orange crab icon appears on your screen to confirm CrabWalk is engaged.
This feature allows the rear wheels to move up to 10 degrees at the same angle as the front wheels, so our HUMMER can move diagonally. Moving between large boulders or getting in or out of a narrow parking space has never been easier.
